I saw this couple on the St. Charles Bridge while on assignment in Prague.

Just love his expression or lack thereof.

hey bud, just took the good 20mins or so to look through your entire gallery.

Been watching you for a bit, and really only looked at your newer stuff. I really love shots like this, just expression on peoples faces reacting with the surroundings is something i really enjoy looking at and shooting.

Lovely shot, well composed and the tones are perfect. The wee boat makes it work all in all :) :+fav:

a couple questions.. -- this one is shockingly under-appreciated.. but i have a few questions about the photograph itself. did you touch this up in the dark-room at all? i can't understand why the statue isn't lit like parts of the rest of the image. It looks almost like the edges and top of the statue were burnt.. or did you dodge the couple at all? The shadows/highlights seem inconsistent.. but maybe my depth perception is a problem.

well, thanks again, mate.

i didn't touch shit up. i scanned in as a .tif. the only PS adjustments are those of levels and curves and a bit of contrast.

the statues on st. charles bridge appeared to be in the process of being cleaned. they were all in some different state. the foot appears to be a part that was cleaned. there was no rhyme nor reason to their cleaning process.

i don't think you have a problem with depth perception mate!

dunno why people didn't like this photo. i love it. i feel lucky to have gotten the moment. it's one of the first pieces of material that i submitted and i doubt people dig about my gallery any longer!

cheers,
chris

his expression is out of place.. and though, i would do the same with a wife as sinister as her... but that's so odd.
ah i love it.

Yes, definately the dynamics between the couple sitting there is of interest. But I cannot help stop my eye from looking at the man holding his hands to his face and the rather LARGE foot of the statue that is poised directly over his head. It makes me think he is literally and emotionally being "walked on".
