anxious anticipation by cweeks anxious anticipation by cweeks
there is so much more to fashion week than the front row and the runway ... backstage.

these girls -- with their long spindly legs -- worry about the runway. many would think that walking down a runway is easy. that there's nothing to it. well ... there is. their walk has been dictated. i don't wear heels -- well, in my past, perhaps, but that is something i'd rather forget -- and walking down the runway with a designer telling you "no ... sexy ... slower" is very difficult.

ever seen the news when they show a racehorse falling during a race. not pretty. falling on the runway is something none of these girls want to have happen. it's a crash of legs, heels and a lot of eyes. not to mention the designer will not request you for the next season.

that's what these girls are thinking about. that and if their rock star boyfriend is screwing some fan in prague.

I love the irony of the word 'single' on the wall. They look as anxious as the girls you see lined up at the bar waiting for someone to come and take them home... looking for love in all the wrong places.

It's funny, the whole drug-induced world of models and their arsehole boyfriends makes me feel sick, but I still have a weakness for the waif look, I just like skinny girls.

they may say that it's out of focus, but in this kind of photography it does not really matter at all.
Good shot.

again, i can see the short depth of field and short focus plane here. it works well in shots like this, eliminates the distracting back ground. but you've gotta be pretty spot on with your focusing, i mean, with such a short depth of field, it must be easy to get the wrong bit. then the whole shot is lost.

I've tried about almost all types of art, and I've started an upcoming obsession with photgrapy, taking photos, and I really like this the backstage feel of it before going on the runway you really captured it, and one day I hope to really try this, being a photgrapher, capturing things people don't really see.

that's a good thing to aspire to!

it's all about seeing those things, translating them ... for yourself to look at later ... and ... perhaps for others as well.

As you say there is so much more to it, photo op wise, but walking down a ramp - sorry I still just can't bring myself to see it as difficult.

btw: what would you be doing if you were a rock star?

ever done it?

if i were a rockstar ... it wouldn't be for the betterment of the world. cocaine for one. lots. mountains. lots of slutty girls. in spandex, of course. i'd finally eclipse michael jackson in album sales and off myself at the Chateau Marmont.

just kidding.

love the crampedness (is that a word? :-P); the emotion accompanies the blurb perfectly. Love it ... A++ :-). That first girl reminds me of Eva Mendes...

hmm... great capture of emotion and, yes, anticipation. i like the composition especially, the fact the models take up so little of the frame. there are several models crunched together and there you have a sense of claustrophobia which juxtaposes with the fact they occupy so little space and you sense then, their smallness in comparison to what will soon follow... very nice.

well .. first off ... i always want to shoot low iso's. the problem is that the stuff that's currently offered is not as good as agfa apx 25. i was able to procure a sizeable quantity of it ... so ... the nocti can be shown in full glory.

i know why i love leica every time i pick one of them up and make a photo.

cheers mate!

i love the composition, the giant sign saying "single" goes well with the prague comment :) i like the way trhe out of focus lights have ben displayed, and how the models do indeed lok almost angry, if just a little bleow happy

superb work as always.
