Artist's Comments

seriously ... okay ... i'll digress ... this is an outtake from a shoot for an los angeles designer for her upcoming lookbook. see the last deviation for what a lookbook is because i don't feel like friggin' typing it again.

this was like after we nailed all the looks. and we just sat around making photos ... for the fuck of it.

i love working with this girl. almost like "muse status" but just not quite there...

she looks like she was just cat napping in the garden.

eos 1d mark2. 24-70/2.8L at 5.0/5.6 at a 200th. iso 200. 12'x12' onestop scrim overhead. shiny (with dulling spray) bounce extreme right ... feathered in.

She has amazing eyes...
Once again the lighting is great. I also like the way this one is more spontaneous...

What do you mean by feathered in?

full on reflected just didn't work ... so i angled it to the sun ... just so ... without being completely bathed in the light...

Yes she does look catty.... meowwwwwwwww..........
It's amazing how everyone loves the blue eyed girls but no one notices the brown eyed girls except for maybe that one ditty ( brown eyed girl) DO they have eye transplants available? lol just kidding... I adore my deep mohogany eyes. I ain't no siamese blue eye but rather be a black eye tomcat............

O lordy I have been working with too many prints lately... I'm goin crazy with this one lady and her bad choice of apertures and lighting....SO I have had to work extra hard on burning and dodging her photos... and bringing out those blue eyes in black and white... so that they show. I have dodged all of those eyes on her prints...........arggghhhhhh I wish I was a cat so I could curl up in the sun and just sleep...

ooooooooooo sorry for the rant ................ needed to let a little steam out.....

I love the intensity in her eyes.

Well, damn. I was going to mention her eyes. :P

Okay, so I am STILL going to mention her eyes. I love how the grey of the bench she is on, and the blues of her jeans and even the ticking of the pillow is blue, which kind of repeats the light greyish blue of her eyes. I also like how this one seems more candid than the ivy shot.

any time.

thank you.

maaan she has great clothes (ok that was girly thing to say I know) ahem

from your description and seeing how comfortable she was in these pics really shows what a nice rapport you had going.
I like the semi-protective pose, but the piercing icy blue eye peeing over is challenging

cool stuff Chris :D

Loving to mood of this. Lazy summer afternoon. The wood adds to the feeling and the sun on the trees nearly makes you smell it. She has gorgeous eyes.

Great shot. With this lighting it looks as if she is just waking from an early morning rest and is waiting for you to come out with a cup of coffee. I like the slight cool colour cast from the indirect light, it seems to add to the feeling of vulnerability.

As an aside - are you likely to make your lighting tips available on line at any time in the future?
