engrossing conversation...

as i mentioned yesterday ... in my comments about :thumb50290471: i was checking out *FideNullo's gallery and saw :thumb45261469:.

it reminded me of a photo i made last month or so ... while J and I were eating at a downtown restaurant which had been there since like the 20's. that's old for los angeles. [link]

the earlier stuff has been either demo'd or lost to an earthquake.

the day i shot this i only had the noctilux. i really should have a smaller fifty mill ... this thing is a beast. *makes note to self to buy a one-four or two-oh fifty mill.*

whilst j and i were eating our french dips and having a glass of sliver oak. silver oak .. by the glass ... just for that ... this restaurant rocks.

we were at the same communal table as this old couple.

they weren't the silent types; they spoke to each other.

which i think is cool.

she had a wedding ring on.

he didn't.

'twas interesting.

i notice things like that.

i prefocused on the man in the photo. i exposed for skin tones. not background.

and although i know the framelines for the 35 like i know the back of my hand ... the fifty is really an exercise ... a photographic exercise.

but i like those.

i like to push myself.

and going through my friend's gallery to see what he'd been up to ... i saw that similar photo ...

and remembered this one.
