after stopping off the 101 -- i was friggin' tired -- for a doppio in the Valley on the way into Hollywood ... i noticed these two guys engaged in a one-sided game of chess.

finished my doppio.

and ... then ... approached them and asked if i may make a few photos.

why?

why didn't i just "shoot it spy-style" and leave?

dunno.

it's like a feeling.

sometimes i do.

the last time i was denied was in palm springs by a fat couple.

whatever.

perhaps they knew that i was perhaps making a parody photo.

dunno.

don't really care.

these guys said something in farsi and i heard the word leica.

they were very very cool.

didn't stick around to find out who won.

i was on a mission.

but ... i got a photo!

The mood is great, I like the athmosphere, they seem very absorbed in their game, chess is such a great game. The one at the right looks a bit like the "mafia boss" from "Mullholland Drive" by David Lynch, the one who spits out his cappuccino. Which brings us back to Starbucks...;)

The bad thing about asking for taking a shot, a lot of people change and looks unnatural.
Nice touch the clear focus on the played game area and faces.

The guy on the left looks like my grandpa.

Jeeze, I totally want a leica camera. I saw tons of adds for them when I was in Sweden over the summer.
